- Wyclef Jean's Yele Haiti Charity Collapses Amid Financial Impropriety
Accusations(See Hollywood Reporter by Jordan Zakarin http://bit.ly/SXiPCY ,
Oct 12, 2012 and New York Times, "In Haiti, Little Can Be Found of a Hip-Hop
Artist’s Charity" by Deborah Sontag, http://nyti.ms/QVsI1s, Oct 11, 2012)

Ezili Dantò's Note: There's a continuing New York attorney general
investigation on Wyclef Jean's Yéle charity that is reported to have already
found financial improprieties at Yéle. In August 2012 Yéle effectively went
out of business, leaving, according to the New York Times, "a trail of debts,
unfinished projects and broken promises."

It's important news to relay the improprieties at Yéle but as HLLN has noted
before on this matter, there is a sense of racism and being singled out that
pervades these Yéle public reports.

We would not be able to make this charge, if, in the pursuit of fairness,
justice and the rule of law, the US attorney general would follow suit and
using the Congressional findings of fraud at USAID as laid out in documents
and hearings such as detailed in the May 11, 2011 broadcasted Congressional
hearing (USAID: Following The Money
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOk9LvwiJpw ) also bring legal charges, request
for accountability and transparency from USAID and its multinational NGOS in
Haiti who are handling not a mere $16 million as Yéle was, but hundreds of
millions, even billions in Haiti misery dollars with a net effect of zero
sustainable accomplishments.

As US Republican Jason Chaffetz from Utah says:
“The totality of the U.S. response has been pathetic and disappointing,” --
Chaffetz (Video - USAID: Following The Money, May 11, 2011
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOk9LvwiJpw )

The New York authorities are investigating Wyclef Jean's charity, the New York
times reports on the collapse of Wyclef Jean's Yele charity amid financial
impropriety accusations while favorably comparing Sean Penn's charity.

BUT, what happened to the billions supervised by Bill Clinton at the UN or the
bait 'n switch Red Cross using quake donation dollars to buy land to build a
tourist hotel and conference center in Haiti?

Yéle's collected $16million is investigated thoroughly but what about the
BILLIONS in US contracts, post-earthquake and BILLIONS to USAID big NGO
charities in Haiti for decades after decades, accomplishing net zero
sustainable relief?

When is that NYT investigation and US attorney general lawsuit taking place
also? When will the mainstream press talk about the UN cholera importation in
Haiti and investigate UN Special Envoy Bill Clinton funding toxic formaldehyde
trailers making Haiti children sick, not investing in clean water and
sanitation but in Paul Farmer ineffective short-term cholera vaccines, while
greedily taking advantage of UN imported cholera with the selling of cholera
insurance to impoverished, earth-quake ravaged and cholera-ravaged Haiti
market women and peasants?

This NYT investigative report on Wyclef Jean's defunct charity is typical
considering the ruling elite's official Haiti narrative mostly serves and
protects its own interests. There are many in Haiti who look at this, denounce
the misuse of dollars by Wyclef Jean's charity, but also understand Yele was
singled out the moment the earthquake hit because its large NGO competitors in
Haiti did not wish to share in the Haiti misery dollars with Jean was a
powerful native threat to the foreign agent NGOs. Wyclef Jean's intrusion and
cut into their Haiti misery monies would not be appreciated. Haiti death,
suffering, disease, impoverishment is a capital asset of the big charities --
large USAID subcontractors such as the Red Cross, Chemonics, et al...
